When

6 – 7 p.m., March 4, 2024

Join New Start and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid for a session to go over how you can receive money to pay for New Start this summer.  We will go over both the 23-24 FAFSA (the "old" FAFSA you will need to file for summer aid) and the 24-25 FAFSA (the "new" FAFSA you will need to receive aid this coming fall AND to qualify for the New Start Tuition Scholarship).

Why Two FAFSAs?

Financial aid for college is awarded based on the academic year.  Summer courses fall into the previous fall-spring academic year, so aid given for classes taken during the summer 2024 term is funded by an application for aid during the 2023-2024 academic year.  The courses you will take this coming fall will be part of the next academic year (2024-2025).  That's why you need to complete both the 23-24 FAFSA AND the 24-25 FAFSA. We can go over this more in the session.

How Can I Get the New Start Tuition Scholarship?

Simply complete BOTH the 2023-2024 AND the 2024-2025 FAFSA.  That's it!  No need to even qualify for aid.  Just submitting both applications can get you about 60% off of the cost of tuition this summer.

When Should I Submit the FAFSA?

Today!  The earlier you submit your FAFSA, the more aid you may be able to qualify for.  The University's priority date this year is April 1 for the 24-25 FAFSA.  Do yourself a favor and get BOTH FAFSAs in by then to make sure you can qualify for the most aid this summer and next fall.

I have specific questions about my Financial Aid.  Can I ask them here?

We will have time after a brief presentation to answer your questions.  If they are of a more private nature, we can move to a breakout room in Zoom at that time.
