Applying to New Start

Applying to New Start

The New Start application for Summer 2026 will open in January!

You are eligible to attend the New Start Summer Program if you meet the following requirements:

  • You will graduate from an Arizona high school during the 2025-2026 academic year and you have not attended college. (If you're dually enrolled at a community college while you're in high school, you may still apply!)
  • You have been admitted to the University of Arizona and plan to enroll here in a degree-seeking program for Fall 2026.
  • You have completed and submitted all required New Start documentation by the required Dates & Deadlines. You must complete both the 2025–2026 and 2026-2027 FAFSA forms in order to receive financial aid for New Start.

In the meantime:

  • Apply for fall admission in a degree-seeking program!
  • Please prepare to file your 2026-2027 FAFSA. While you wait, start by learning and creating your FSA ID! You will need this to move forward with your FAFSA, and since there will be some processing time needed, it doesn't hurt to create this now.
  • You may begin filing the 2025-2026 FAFSA at any time. If we can help, get in touch with us!

Please Note: This program is not intended for transfer or joint-admission students. For information on programs and services for transfer students, please visit the Transfer Student Center website or call (520) 626-5568.

The online application will be in your Future Wildcat Portal after receiving your fall admission!

After being admitted, navigate to your status page for Fall 2026. Then click on "Supplemental Applications" tab near the top of the page. The option to apply for New Start will appear under this tab.

*Note: You will need to be admitted for Fall 2026 in a degree-seeking program and create your UA NetID and password before you can access your New Start Program application.

You're in! Watch for confirmation of your application in your email. We'll continue to send you important information over the academic year, so keep an eye on your email (and your home mailing address) and contact us if you have any questions!

Start marking your calendar for important events such as our Welcome Day on June 7, and be sure to clear your calendar for classes in the mornings from June 8 through July 17.

In addition to checking your email, be sure to work on your UA Next Steps, including signing up for New Student Orientation, paying or deferring the enrollment fee, and submitting immunization records.

For financial planning purposes, please be sure to file your 2026-2027 FAFSA when it opens. You may begin filing the 2025-2026 FAFSA at any time!

The university has a priority deadline of April 1 for the FAFSA.
